Nobuyo Hinkle

Nobuyo Hinkle, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and sister-in-law passed away on December 12, 2008 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on March 15, 1928 in Tokyo Japan. Nobuyo was the widow of TSgt. Robert Bryan Hinkle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Masao and Toku Saito and stepmother, Sada Saito, brothers, Noboru and Minoru Saito, sister, Yoshi Green and sister-in-law, Shirley Hinkle. She is survived by her sisters, Toshi Marder, Miramar, FL and Sachiko Saito, Tokyo, Japan; brother, Tatsuo Saito, Hong Kong, China; daughter Darlyne Thompson and husband, Kent; granddaughters, Madelyne and Hannah Thompson, San Antonio, TX and nieces and nephews, Diane Newbury and husband, Nick, John Marder and wife, Sheila, Takahiro Saito; brother-in-law, Charles Hinkle and sister-in-law, Janis Collins. Nobuyo moved to the United States in 1957 and spent most of her life living in Manhattan, Kansas while working for the school district for 27 years. Upon retirement, she moved to San Antonio, TX to live with her immediate family. She was widowed early in her marriage and devoted her life to raising her daughter. For this, her daughter is eternally grateful. She enjoyed her granddaughters immensely while attending numerous soccer/basketball games and choir concerts in which they participate. Her kind and polite manner will be greatly missed by all family and friends. The family expresses its deep appreciation to the nursing staff at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital, Methodist Hospital, Huebner Creek Rehabilitation Center and Doctors James Vosberg, Sammy Vick, Gia Dice, and Christopher Fincke. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM (with family greeting friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM) on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Schertz Funeral Home, Schertz, TX. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park North in San Antonio, TX. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
