Nathandale Farris

October 13, 1930 — October 17, 2019

Nathandale (Bud) Farris, 89, of Ponca City OK, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2019 surrounded by his family.

Bud was born October 13, 1930 in Wichita, KS to Lloyd and Helen (Foster) Farris.  He married his high school sweetheart, Pearl Alice (Winter) Farris on July 25th, 1952, whom he met at a high school ballroom dance class.  He graduated from Wichita State University and continued on to get his Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas State University.

He was commissioned into the Air Force through ROTC and honorably served 30 years in the Air Force Reserve. After the Korean Conflict, Bud worked at Conoco Oil Company in the Engine Test Lab, Coal Mining Research and Pressure Vessels Integrity until his retirement in 1991. He continued to work as a contract engineer in Ponca City for several years after his retirement.

As an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, Bud served many years in various roles including deacon and elder.  He enjoyed remote controlled Airplanes as a member of G.O.O.F.S. (Good Ole Okie Flying Society) where he spent many Saturdays on the flying field.  He biked around town and especially enjoyed pedaling with his good friend Chip Whipple. He loved his electric truck (GEM) where Poncans would often see him at Braum’s, eating his biscuits and gravy.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl, his son, Robert (Bob) & wife Kathleen,  daughters Jana Ansiel and Jill Thomas & husband Eric, grandchildren Aaron Farris, Nathan Farris, Laura Farris, Griffith Thomas, and Caius Thomas, and great-grandchildren Ezra Farris, Piper Farris, and Haven Farris.  A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 11:00am at First Presbyterian Church of Ponca City, 1505 E. Grand Ave.
