MSgt. L.J. Diaz, Jr. U.S. Army, Retired was born to L.J. Diaz, Sr. & Victoria (Martinez) Diaz on October 20, 1934 in Georgetown, Texas. He went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2008 in Live Oak, Texas at the age of 74. L.J. was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jacquelyn; granddaughter, Samantha and a sister, Lucy Gutierrez. He is survived by his loving wife, Julia L. Diaz, Live Oak, Texas; son, L.J. Diaz, III & wife, Kathy, San Antonio, Texas and daughter, Julie Diaz Gray & husband, Jim, Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Cassandra & Alexander Diaz and Manon & James Gray; great-grandson, Tyler Johnson and sisters, Mercy Villarreal, Irene Garcia, Mary Rios, Rosemary Acevedo, Beatrice Acosta & Christine Lyda. In the last few years of his life, he made the big jump from complaining to actually stickin' it to the man working for various political causes. Live Oak politics will never be the same. This man achieved every parent's dream of providing more for his children and grandchildren than he had as a child. Here's to you, Pops! Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM (with a Rosary being Recited at 6:30 PM) on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. A Mass will be Recited at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 28, 2008 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma with Father Walter Zinzer as the Celebrant. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
