Minerva Garza Wilson (1961-2026)
Minerva Wilson, 64, of Luling, TX, passed away at Brook Army Medical Center from her fight against cancer on April 11th, 2026.
She was born in Mission, TX. in 1961 to Rodolfo Garza Sr. and Dolores Montoya Garza. Minerva carried on her fathers legacy by joining and retiring from the ranks of the U.S. Army Reserve. During her time of service, she became a member of the nursing community for the military and pediatrics.
As a proud veteran, Minerva served over 30 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant before retiring from the 228th Combat Support Hospital at Fort Sam Houston. She served with many other units in support of the Global War on Terrorism and the Bosnia and Herzegovina Operations, earning Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medals, an Armed Forces Service Medal and a National Defense Service Medal.
Minerva was proud to have done her duty to help defend the freedom of citizens across this country, and became a lifetime VFW member for 20 years and has been a member of VFW Post 8927 in Lockhart, TX for 4 years.
Minerva’s unexpected passing comes as a shock to her family, friends, and loved ones, who are still reeling at the loss. She lived an intrepid life full of adventure and still had so much ahead of her. She was taken far too soon.
Minerva was preceded in death by her sisters Gloria and Leticia, and brothers Rodolfo Jr., Mauro Sr., Marcos, and Baltazar. She is survived by her husband and two sons, Fred Wilson, Michael Johnson, and Matthew Johnson.
The Military Funeral Honors will be held on May 29th, 2026, 0900, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery site 2C and her Wake is scheduled for May 29th, 2026, 1230, at the VFW Post 8927.
