Michiko Burkhead

Michiko Tajima Burkhead went to the Lord on April 17, 2020 at her home in Schertz, Texas. She was born October 26, 1932 in Kyoto, Japan. Michiko married Everett E. Burkhead on September 10, 1951 and became a United States citizen March 22, 1967. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, crocheting, word search puzzles, watching TV westerns (especially The Virginian) and was a huge San Antonio Spurs fan. Among the things she enjoyed, Michiko also loved to travel and spend time playing with the animals, Payton (dog) and Stormy (horse).

Michiko was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Everett E. Burkhead, and daughter, Linda Lou Burkhead. She is survived by her 8 children, Mary A. Ray of San Antonio, Texas, Edward E. Burkhead (Jan) of Morris, Illinois, David L. Burkhead of Channahon, Illinois, Jerry S. Burkhead (Michelle) of Seneca, Illinois, Mark J. Burkhead (Susan) of Fayetteville, North Carolina,  Raymond S. Burkhead (Joanne) of San Antonio, Texas, Christine L. Farmer (Chuck) of Schertz, Texas and Robert R. Burkhead (LaRae) of Ottawa, Illinois; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Michiko was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother and will be missed dearly.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30AM on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Crosspoint Fellowship in Schertz, Texas with interment to follow at 1:00PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery - Shelter 1.
