Michael Anthony Braud, 38, of San Antonio, Texas, went to be with the Lord on September 13, 2021, after struggling for many years with heart failure. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 28, 1982. Michael was a military brat; he moved and lived many places, including San Antonio, Texas, Eielson AFB Alaska and Woodbridge, Virginia. At the age of 10, Michael accompanied his dad and some friends on a fishing trip to the Alaskan wilderness, miles away from civilization. He was the salmon stringer and helped catch over 120 Alaskan Sockeye Salmon. Michael played many sports as a child. His favorite was hockey in Virginia; he was quite the goalie for his team, the Snipers. As he grew older, Michael began to love the outdoors, camping, fishing and just being outside with his children and friends. The most important thing in his life was being a father to his children. If you were to ask Michael what made him the happiest, he would always reply, “just being with my kids”.
Michael is preceded in death by grandparents, George Aguilar, Jr. Msgt USA Retired, Shelton Braud, Major, USA and Marian Braud. He is survived by his spouse, Samantha Sanchez Braud; children, Isaac, Jadynn Rose and Jace Michael; parents, Richard and Georgieanna Braud; grandmother, Chie Aguilar; brothers, Richard Braud, Jr. and Scott Braud; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel with interment to immediately follow at Selma #2 Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr.Michael Kwan and his entire heart transplant team and staff, Dr.Wassim Choucair and his entire cardiology staff, and the medical teams at San Antonio Methodist Hospital for giving Michael genuine care and extending his short life by 5 more years. As well as Kacey Jones and the staff at Schertz Funeral Home for their kindness and professionalism through this difficult time.
