Melba Leslie

May 8, 1934 — August 17, 2021

Melba Leslie, age 87, of Schertz, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born in Panama, Central America, on May 8, 1934.

She loved watching sports and her favorite thing to do was fishing. She was a devout Catholic and a guiding influence for the Ladies Auxiliary and was also the church treasurer when she lived in Florida. She helped us recall many happy occasions in Panama and lifted our spirits with her humorous memories and laughter. She loved dogs. She always had a dog until she couldn’t take care of them anymore.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Concepcion Garcia and by her husband, Captain Walter T. Leslie of Florida, who passed away in 2002. They met while he was stationed in Panama Canal Zone as a rescue helicopter pilot. Melba is survived by her stepdaughter, Carol Lewis and her grandsons Neal and Keith Lewis from Florida. She is also survived by her nieces which she considered her daughters, Trixie Triplett, Myrna Pellegreen, Vielka and her husband, Michael Pink, Marilyn and her husband, Jeff Ingram and her nephew, Tom and his wife Mary Jackson.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021, at 11:30 AM, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
