In Loving Memory of Mary Ann Rodriguez
Mary Ann Rodriguez, lovingly known as “Mom” to so many, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 13, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born on August 15, 1943, and was a lifelong source of love, laughter, faith, and generosity to everyone blessed to know her. She proudly called Schertz, Texas, her home.
Mary Ann was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Monica Elliott and her husband, David; her son, Mike Rodriguez and his wife, Melissa; and her cherished grandsons, Austin Rodriguez, Reese Rodriguez, and Evan Soto. She is also survived by her brothers, Alfred Rodriguez, George Rodriguez, and John Rodriguez and wife Margaret; her sister, Norma Chapa; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred Rodriguez; her son, Freddie Rodriguez Jr.; and her parents, Alfred Rodriguez and Christina Rodriguez.
Mary Ann had a vibrant spirit and a heart that knew no limits. She loved playing Bunco with her many friends, spending time with her family, and serving her church community. As a faithful member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, she dedicated her time to the Altar Society and the Bereavement Committee, always ready to comfort and serve others with compassion.
She was an amazing mother and an exceptionally loving, involved grandmother. One of her greatest joys was taking her grandsons to school every day, going to the casino with family, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Her sense of humor, generous heart, and warm smile had a way of making everyone around her laugh, feel welcome, and know they were loved. Mary Ann’s kindness touched countless lives, and her legacy of faith, compassion, and unconditional love will continue through all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary Ann’s life. A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Schertz Funeral Home, followed by the Rosary from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Schertz. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in the mausoleum. Family and friends are then invited to gather for a reception at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Dementia Society of America in Mary Ann’s honor.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that Mary Ann’s love, faith, laughter, and beautiful spirit will remain with us always. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family that will never be forgotten.
