Mary Elizabeth Jackson, age 79, of Schertz, Texas, peacefully departed this Earth on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Northeast Methodist Hospital in Live Oak, Texas after a long battle with Addisons Disease along with other ailments. She was born on September 12, 1942 in Machias, Maine, where she spent the first 20 years of her life. Machias is also where she met and married Charles “Tom” Jackson on June 10, 1961; they were married 60 fabulous years.
In addition to spending time with her family and friends, Mary enjoyed cooking, watching sporting events and caring for her dogs. She had a bright and energetic personality and was known for her ability to sense when people needed her help. Mary was an incredibly passionate, giving person and will be dearly missed.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Dr.John F. and Mary H. Hanson; and brother, Michael Hanson. She is survived by her loving husband, Tom; son, Tommy with wife Hannah; two grandchildren, Carrie and Marc; and three great grandchildren; brother, Dr.John F. Hanson with wife, Dorothy; six sisters, Joann M. Kostacopoulos, Sally A. Mulligan with husband, Raymond, Trixie Triplet, Myrna Pellegreen, Vielka Pink with husband, Mike, Marilyn Ingram with husband, Jeff; as well as 8 nieces and 7 nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church of Selma, Texas. The Rosary will be recited at 10:30AM followed by a Mass at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St.Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
