Mary Franco

September 23, 1961 — September 10, 2021

Mary Magdalen Franco (Didi) was called home to be with our Lord on the 10 th of September 2021 at the age of 59. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 23, 1961, to her parents Dolores and Marcial Leal Jr. and lived in Texas for her whole life. Mary spent many years striving to support her family. She loved spending time with her daughter, family, and extended family, and everyone she knew. She loved taking time to be with her “adopted children” as well as her partner John Michael Mayorga sitting around the table or a fire pit drinking tequila rose and playing games. Her lifelong passion was being a cosmetologist and tending to her clients. She enjoyed visiting with and making her clients look the best before they walked out of the salon. Many of her clients knew her from when she started doing hair at the age of 16. Mary had the biggest heart and above all loved helping people in general.

Mary was one of the most generous people you could ever know. She was the person to make sure everyone else was taken care of before taking care of herself and would have given the shirt off her back to anyone that needed it. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and never failed to make everyone around her feel loved and cherished. God gave all of us the privilege to know the woman she was. The intelligence, guidance, kindness, and words of wisdom will forever better every one of us that knew her. All the memories, love, and laughter she shared will last forever in our hearts.

Mary is preceded in death by her grandparents Francisco and Leonarda (Hernandez) Sanchez, and Marcial Leal Sr. and Zoyla (Rodriguez) Leal. She is survived by her daughter Alexis Christine Franco, son Jonathan Corey Franco, her parents Marcial Leal Jr. and Dolores (Sanchez) Leal, her brothers Michael Leal, Marcial Leal III, sister Elizabeth Ann Sedlock, and nephews Travis John Sedlock, and Zachary Michael Leal.

The family would like to thank all the nursing and hospital staff at Kindred Central who provided excellent and around the clock care for Mary for over a month. They would also like to extend an extra thank you to Rachel Raspberry, RN, and Melody, RN who saw her through her last days and took care of not only Mary but her daughter as well.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 8 th beginning at 5:00 PM with a celebration of life to begin at 6:00 PM at Schertz Funeral Home, 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, TX 78154. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Alexis’ GoFundMe to help with expenses. Please contact Alexis (210) 800-1239 or Cathryn (830) 688-7506 for more information.
