Maria D. Castillo, also known as Mary, passed away on May 28, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on November 8, 1954, in Palito Blanco, Texas. Mary lived a life marked by kindness, patience, and deep devotion to her Catholic faith.
Mary was a woman who loved the simple beauty of life. She found great joy in sitting outdoors, admiring her cherished plants and flowers, which reflected her nurturing spirit. She delighted in spending time with her family, especially in the joyful chaos of chasing her great-grandchildren around. Known for her warm heart and generous nature, she never allowed anyone to leave her home hungry, embodying hospitality in its truest form.
Maria was the beloved daughter of the late Morris and Petra Flores. She is survived by her devoted husband, Danny Castillo, and two loving daughters, Melissa and Michelle(Chase). Her grandchildren; Lauren (Daniel), Aiden (Camryn), and Jake. Great-grandchildren; Jason, Dean, Garrett, and Carter. Her siblings Maurice (Josie), Arthur (Peggy), and Ray (Anna), all of whom carry forward her legacy of love and faith.
Services for Mary will be on June 16, 2026, at Schertz Funeral Home. The visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. followed by the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. On June 17, 2026, a Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Following the Mass, there will be a Graveside Service at Holy Cross Cemetery at 12:45 p.m.
