Mrs. Marlene J. Burns, 88, beloved wife of the late, William J. Burns, Jr., passed away on September 18, 2025, after a brief illness.

She is survived by her daughter Catherine Burns, grandsons; Justin Sadowski and Ivan Sadowski, and brother John Hyjurick. 

Marlene was born in Sunnyside, Pennsylvania, July 16, 1937 to George and Catherine Hyjurick. She was blessed to grow up with two older sisters, Georgetta and Cecilia and two brothers, Lewis and John Hyjurick. 

In her younger years, Marlene served three years in the United States Air Force. She married William J. Burns Jr., in October 1958. They were married 61 loving and devoted years to each other. 

They had one daughter Catherine Louise Burns, born June, 6, 1958. 

Marlene dedicated her life to supporting her husbands military career in the United States Air Force and was so blessed to have spent 6 years in Honolulu, Hawaii. Marlene loved doing volunteer work at the USAF hospital. 

Marlene also dedicated her time and love for children by teaching children at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Mothers Day Out program. 

Marlene will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend to all she knew, always ready to share a smile and a hug.

A Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 beginning at 11:30 AM. Afterwards those who would like to attend the Committal Service will meet at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, the service will begin at 1:15 PM.
