The world lost an exceptional human being on November 19th, 2025, when Mark Aaron Winn passed away at the age of 74 in San Antonio, Texas. Just a few weeks shy of celebrating his 75th birthday on December 18th, Mark managed to touch countless individuals throughout his life with his humor, heart, and honorable character.
Early in Mark’s life he became a proud U.S. Marine serving in Vietnam, where he was severely wounded and subsequently awarded two Purple Hearts as well as a Bronze Star with Valor for his conduct during combat in 1969. A firm believer in the Marine Corps principle of “improvise, adapt and overcome,” Mark never let his war wounds get in his way; instead, he developed a unique zest for life. After serving his country, he dedicated his professional career to serving fellow veterans and their dependants in both the Veterans Administration and the Disabled American Veterans in several offices throughout the country. In retirement, he still strived to help his community and earned a spot on the Deer Creek HOA in addition to sitting on the city counsel for Cibolo, Texas and becoming their mayor pro tem.
Mark is survived by his loving and loyal wife of nearly fifty years, Linda C. Winn, brother James Winn, children Danell Winn and Erin George, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Disabled American Veterans or the Wounded Warrior Project in honor of patriot Mark A. Winn.
