Maria Evans

Maria Josephine Evans was called home by the Lord Saturday, May 15, 2021, at the age 93.  Although she lived a wonderful life, she is now reunited with her husband, parents, and siblings.  She was born on February 11, 1928 in Germany.  She grew up during the hard times of World War II.  She met the love of her life, Willie Dean Evans, at the end of the Korean War, while he was stationed in Germany.  They were married and came to America where they began their family in San Antonio, Texas raising their three boys whom she dearly loved.  They eventually moved and retired in Schertz, Texas, bought a motorhome, and enjoyed traveling the United States.  She was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and making gifts for family and friends.  She also took pleasure in making her German cookies and cakes during the holidays for all to enjoy. Josephine also enjoyed playing Pinochle with family and friends and was even playing at 93.  She was the best Mother her sons could have asked for. Josephine will be missed by all.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Dean Evans.  She is survived by her sons: William (Karin), Joey (Karen), and Johnny; her grandchildren: Michael, Kirstina, Ashley, Korey, Brandon, and Chelsey; her great-grandchildren: Kayleigh, Faith, and Taylor; and many other relatives and friends.  A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Schertz Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at Schertz Funeral Home with Pastor Mario Gallegos officiating.  Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
