Margarita Del Toro Gomez

Margarita “Margie” Del Toro Gomez passed away at the age of 76 in San Antonio, Texas, on November 15, 2025.

She was born on May 19, 1949, in D’Hanis, Texas. Margie graduated from D’Hanis High School and attended San Antonio College to pursue a degree in accounting. She retired from Civil Service after 34 years of dedicated service and always stressed the importance of higher education.

Margie was a great listener, always offering comforting words and an open heart. She showed up for the important moments in life, never missing an opportunity to support those she loved. Above all, she always put family first. She will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Valente and Maria (Rodriguez) Del Toro; sisters Elida “Lela” Rodriguez, Adelina “Nina” Pargas, and Esther Aguirre; brother Oscar Del Toro; brother-in-law Jose Pargas; sister-in-law Florence “Flo” Del Toro; and stepson Joe Luis Gomez.

She is survived by her husband, Jose Gomez of Schertz, Texas; daughter Jessica Yvette Jones and husband Gerald of Cedar Falls, Iowa; son Gilbert Gonzales and wife Jennie of San Antonio, Texas; stepdaughters Irene Gomez and husband Raul Sanchez of Staples, Texas; Cynthia Gonzales and husband Jeff Gonzales of Seguin, Texas; and Kathy Gomez and husband Darrell Kalicek of Kyle, Texas; grandson Sebastian Valente Gonzales of San Antonio, Texas; 11 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; brother Everardo Del Toro of Minnesota; sister-in-law Alice Del Toro of Boerne, Texas; and brother-in-law Jose Aguirre of San Antonio, Texas.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00PM - 8:00PM, with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00PM, on Monday, November 24, 2025 at Schertz Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will take place at 11:45 AM on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Holy Cross Church in D'Hanis, Texas with interment to immediately follow at San Francisco Cemetery in D'Hanis, Texas.
