Lula Laubach (92) passed away December 2, 2023, at her home at New Haven Assisted Living Facility in Schertz, Texas. Lula was born in Starkville, Mississippi on April 12, 1931 to Alpha and Dave Ellis. She met Benno Laubach in Killeen, Texas and they married on July 20, 1957 and later moved to Cibolo. She retired in 2003 from North East Independent School District where she worked in the food service department. She began her career as a worker in the school cafeterias, moved into a role as a cafeteria manager and later worked in the central offices overseeing the cafeterias for numerous schools.
Lula is survived by her daughter Sarah Koranek and her husband Jimmy. Grandchildren Jason Shepherd, Blake Shepherd, Kara (Joshua) Nelson, Krista (Nick) Gregory, and Katie (John) Bell. Great grandchildren Tyler and Mason Shepherd, Joshua Koranek, Raylan Nelson, David and Tyler Levesque, Madilynn Koranek and Luke Kurtz. Sister Margie Wallace and niece Angela (Chad) Stuart. She is also survived by many family members from Benno’s family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benno, two sons Thomas Shepherd and Jerry Shepherd and great granddaughter MacKenzie Nelson.
The family would like to thank the caregivers with Freedom Hospice and New Haven Assisted Living Facility for all of the love and care that was given to her. Special thanks to Tracy Rose and Phyllis Fuchs for treating her like their own family during her time at New Haven.
