Lucille Bludau Friesenhahn passed away Dec. 7, 2008 surrounded by family after living 83 rewarding years loving and caring for those in her life. She was born Dec. 5, 1925 in Hallettsville, TX, one of eleven children of the late Ben and Emilia Bludau. In 1949 Lucille married the love of her life, Elton Fritz Friesenhahn. They shared 53 wonderful years together before his death on Nov. 17, 2002. Lucille devoted her life to her husband and raising their seven children by preparing delicious meals and keeping a warm and welcoming home. She was very proud of her family and always looked forward to having everyone over for Sunday lunch and all the holidays. Besides spending time with her family, Lucille enjoyed traveling with her husband and went on many great trips including several visits to Europe. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, and fishing; however, playing bingo was her favorite. Lucille was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for more than 59 years. She was a lifetime member of both the Saint Anns Society and the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Lucille is survived by her seven children; Kathleen (Jim) Patty, Glenn (Anita) Friesenhahn, Dale (Julie) Friesenhahn, Joyce (Scott) Akin, Cary (Colleen) Friesenhahn, Yvonne (David) Bixler, and Gayle (Mark) Shrode, 26 cherished grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Lucilles life will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 16075 Evans Road, Selma, TX. Visitation will begin Dec. 9, 2008 at 5:00 PM followed by a rosary at 7:00 PM. Funeral mass will be Dec. 10, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Father Conor McGrath as the Celebrant. Donations may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Autumn Winds Retirement Lodge.
