Lucia "Lucy" M. Garcia
Sunrise: April 11, 1955 ~ Sunset: August 8, 2025
Lucy was born to Armando Montez Sr. & Carolina "Carrie" Montez in Elmendorf, TX. She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Lucas C. Garcia. Together they raised two daughters: Linda Culver (husband James) and Letty Bowens (husband Charles), each of whom brought immense pride and joy to Lucy’s life. Her devotion to family was evident in the special love she held for her grandchildren: Nathan Culver (Hailee), LaReyna Trinidad, Henry Culver, and Charlie Bowens III. The arrival of her great-grandchild, Graceyn Culver, was a source of renewed happiness and delight.
Lucy was deeply devoted to her family, and her love extended well beyond her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her father, Armando Montez Sr., and siblings Johnny (Mary) Montez and Delia (Rick) Ramirez. Lucy’s heart embraced her extended family, including brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-laws, and a multitude of cherished nieces and nephews. Her family connections were woven together by warmth and care, creating a legacy of togetherness and support.
Lucy was preceded in death by her mother, Carolina (Carrie) Montez, her brother Armando Montez Jr., and her nephew John Lucas Montez. She is also reunited with her cherished dog, Scooby, who brought her comfort and affection throughout the years.
Lucy was known for her infectious laughter at family gatherings, the way she welcomed every guest with open arms, and her unwavering support during difficult times. She taught those around her to place God and family above all, leading by example through kindness and resilience. Friends and relatives often recall how Lucy’s courage in her battle against cancer inspired hope in others; she met every challenge with strength and grace, never giving up.
A special appreciation is extended to Dr. Vijay K. Gunuganti, M.D, and Guiding Light Hospice for their compassionate care and support throughout Lucy’s journey.
We are grateful for every moment shared with Lucy, and while we mourn her passing, we celebrate the joy she brought into our lives. Her spirit is now at peace, free from pain and suffering, walking the streets of gold and forever young in the presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Until we meet again, may her memory be a blessing.
