Lowie was born in Hot Springs, South Dakota and spent many of her years in California. She relocated to Idaho with her family before finally settling in Texas in 1997.
Lowie truly thrived in the presence of her family and friends. Her one true passion was horses. While life, on many occasions, required her to change her path, her many talents allowed her to enjoy other passions as well. There were many eras in her life that brought her tremendous joy. Some of which being her horse training, ceramics, making jewelry and crafts with her sisters, traveling and painting.
Lowie’s talents didn’t stop there. Upon the cancer diagnosis of her husband, she dove into a new world of real estate to upkeep the lifestyle and livelihoods of her children. As a top producer from the onset of her career, she was able to provide for her family and pass on a successful business she shared with her daughter.
Lowie is preceded in death by her husband Martin Van Diest, her parents, RG & Dolly Harris, and her sister, Pamela Hoffman.
Lowie is survived by her three children, Robert Van Diest, Marney Higgs and her husband Rhett Higgs and David Van Diest. She has five beloved grandchildren, Trevor & Braden Van Diest, and Harper, Marty & Scarlett Higgs. She also leaves behind her dear partner Kimmer Botten and her beloved siblings Marsha Bane and Bruce Harris. In addition, a countless number of people that were near and dear to her that she considered nothing less than family. Which include Robert’s fiancé Cynthia Campbell and her daughters Aubrey, Taylor & Paisley Kiser and David’s significant other, Brenna Cummings.
Lowie will be remembered for her kind, giving, loving, vibrant and feisty spirit. Her unmatched zest for life and inspiring words will never be forgotten, but forever missed.
