Loren “Jay” Johnson passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 in his home in Schertz, Texas with his beautiful wife, Siggy Johnson, by his side.
Jay was born on June 27, 1940 in Reno, Nevada, where he grew up until he joined the United States Air Force in 1961. Jay continued serving his country for over 30 years, earning numerous awards and medals. Jay was Chief Master Sergeant until he retired in 1991. Jay was and will always be a proud military man. His love of the military carried on with his time spent volunteering for the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Memorial Service (MSD).
Jay and Siggy moved to Schertz, Texas in 2002. Until the day of Jay’s passing, he enjoyed gardening, chatting and gossiping with many friends and neighbors. He especially loved his sweet girl, Carolina, his miniature border collie.
Jay is survived by his wife Siggy, his 4 children and 2 stepchildren.
Viewing will be Thursday, September 15th from 5:00-7:00pm at Schertz Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1520 Harry Wurzbach, San Antonio, Texas on Friday, September 16th at 10:45am at shelter 5 followed by a celebration of Jay’s life at the home of Jimmy and Patty Yarbrough 2793 Valencia Lane, Schertz.
