Lillie Linnartz

October 28, 1921 — December 23, 2008

Lillie Louise Scheibe was born on October 28, 1921 to Julius William Edward Scheibe and Esther Alma Krueger in the Eden Community, Guadalupe County. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior on April 6, 1997 at a Billy Graham Crusade in San Antonio, Texas. Lillie went home to be with the Lord on December 23, 2008. Lillie married Alfonz Jacob Seiler on June 10, 1939 in Schertz, Texas. They adopted one son, Glenn Seiler, and later had a son John William Seiler (who passed away at the age of 13 of leukemia) and a daughter Sandra Seiler Stoneking. Lillie moved herself and her daughter to New Braunfels, where she began working as a checker at Baenzingers Supermarket. This is where she met Bernie Linnartz. Lillie and Bernie were married August 20, 1966. Lillie and Bernie bought back the old family grocery store in Comal Town (Linnartz Food Store), which they owned and operated until retirement. Lillie developed Alzheimers disease and had to be placed in Guadalupe Valley Nursing Center in August 2004. Lillie was a very loving and caring mother and friend. Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, a son (John William Seiler) and a husband (Bernie C. Linnartz Sr.). She is survived by a son Glenn Roger Seiler and his wife Nancy, a daughter Sandra Stoneking and her husband Ed, a step-son Bernie Linnartz Jr. and his wife Alix, and a step-son Bert Linnartz and sister, Laura Hudson. She had 12 grandchildren, Cindy Taft, John Seiler, Michael Tschoepe and wife Aly, Stacey Zies, Benjamin Linnartz, Aaron Linnartz, Callie, Ana, Kevin Linnartz, Arthur Linnartz, Cody Linnartz and Chris Stoneking and wife Elaine; great-grandchildren, Shawn Taft, Jason Taft, Dakota Zies, Haley Zies, Brittney Tschoepe, Bailey Tschoepe, Kaytlin Tschoepe, Samantha Linnartz, and Thomas Stoneking. Lillie and Bernie loved to travel and just take short road trips and picnics. Lillie had a tradition of making the best cookies, candies, fruit cakes, and banana nut bread at Christmas and gave it away as gifts. Lillie will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but we all know she is in a much better place (her new mansion). All of the nursing staff at GVNC said their goodbyes on December 22nd. These are a fantastic group of caring and loving individuals. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, December 26, 2008 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at The Country Church of Marion, TX with Pastor Butch Ikels officiating. Interment will follow at the Seiler Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to: The Country Church or the Seiler Cemetery.
