Lillian Schmoekel, born on May 10, 1930, in San Antonio, peacefully passed away on July 21, 2023, in Marion, Texas. She was surrounded by her loving family during her final moments.
She was born in San Antonio, Texas to Lillie Flessner and Gus Doan on May 10, 1930.
Lillian was a cherished wife to Marvin Schmoekel. Their love and partnership were an inspiration to all who knew them. Lillian was married to Marvin on December 16, 1948.
Lillian was also a devoted mother to Dennis Schmoekel (Kathryn), Donna Schmoekel, and Dean Schmoekel (Lisa). She embraced the joys and challenges of motherhood with grace and compassion. As a mother, Lillian instilled in her children the values of resilience and perseverance that will continue to guide them throughout their lives.
Lillian dedicated twenty years of her life to the Civil Service at JPPSO. Her commitment to her work was unwavering, and she displayed immense dedication and professionalism throughout her career.
She had one sister, a niece, a great-niece, 4 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
Lillian Schmoekel was a woman of integrity and loyalty. Her warm smile and gentle nature touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Though our hearts ache with the loss we feel, we find comfort in our cherished memories of Lillian.
May her soul rest in eternal peace as her memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved and admired her.
A Visitation for Lillian will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 5:00PM - 8:00PM, at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00PM on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
Pallbearers for the service of Lillian include Tate Fuller, Leonard Real, Donald Klug, Hoss Corry, Mike Friesenhahn, and Mike Baggot.
In lieu of flowers, the family request a memorial donation in her honor to St. John Lutheran Church in Marion, Texas.
