Lee Watson, born Yoon Sook Lee, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 22, 2025, at the age of 94, in her home of 40 years in Marion, Texas.
Lee was born on February 12, 1931, in Seoul, Korea, to Doo Hyun Lee and Gwi Dong Kim. In 1961, she met her husband while working on a military base in Korea. After welcoming their two children, the family later moved to the United States in 1974. Throughout her long and full life, Lee remained deeply connected to her Korean heritage and culture.
Lee earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design in Korea and delighted in creating one-of-a-kind outfits for her children. After settling in the United States, she worked for USAA, where she dedicated 15 years of service before retiring.
Lee had a passion for cooking, gardening, and watching Korean television programs. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family. She was the heart of her family, someone who knew no strangers and welcomed everyone with warmth. She especially loved hosting large family gatherings, where her children and grandchildren would gather to enjoy her home-cooked meals. In her later years, her greatest joy was teaching her children and grandchildren her traditional Korean recipes, passing down both her culture and her love through food.
Lee is survived by her brother, Byoung Lee (Sook); her daughter, Carman Frederick; her son, Calvin Watson (Tonya); her grandchildren, Austin Gomez (Becca), Katherine Price (Kenny), Benjamin Arnecke (Keeley), Robin Arnecke, Wade Watson (Emma), Zoe Watson, and Jackson Arnecke; and her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Andrew Gomez, and Ava and Daniel Price. She is also survived by her nephew, Robin Lee (Jiwon), and her niece, Vivian Yee (Spencer).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doo Hyun Lee and Gwi Dong Kim; her sister, Yoon Chae Lee (Soo); her brothers, Yoon Sang Lee (Young) and Yoon Haw Lee (Yeon); her beloved husband, William Watson; and her son-in-law, Frank Frederick.
