Keith M Richter , born March 20, 1943 in Rockford , IL passed away on September 21, 2021 in San Antonio , TX at the age of 78. He is pr eceded in death by his parents, Martin and Florence (Koenig) Richter, and his wife, Jacqueline (Woodward).

Keit h is survived by his daughter Lisa Richte r and her husband Bailey Reeves, his sister Shirley Richter, and his brother and sister-in-law Neil and Berta Richter.

Keith was a retired Lt Colonel in the Air Force, where he served as a pilot. He worked civil service as an engineer at Randolph Air Force Base. He also owned an asphalt paving business and a restaurant. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking, as well as playing bingo and Texas hold’em. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Bracken Volunteer Fire Department, and the Garden Ridge Lions Club. Keith served on the Garden Ridge City Council for many years, and served out terms as the city’s mayor twice. Through the Lions Club, many Garden Ridge residents enjoyed his BBQ for the 4th of July picnics and his food at the annual fish fry and auction.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021 , 6:00pm at the Schertz Funeral Home. Graveside Servic e will take place on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, 1:15pm, at the Fort Sam Ho uston National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
