Kay Gentry

July 15, 1944 — September 25, 2020

Kay Judy Gentry of Schertz, Texas went to be with Our Lord surrounded by her daughters on September 25, 2020 at the VITAS Hospice Home in San Antonio, Texas.

Kay was born in Spokane, Washington as the only child to Wells William Worthington and Lois Eleanor Williams.  Kay and Jack Gentry were married 30 years until his passing in 2016. If we had to choose one word about our Mom, it would be “Classy”. Or in two words, “Classy Grandma”. Kay loved being around her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.   Sunday family meals after Mass was her greatest pleasure in life.  Everyone would gather at her house to share in family, food & fun.

Kay was a retired teacher with 36 years to her credit.  The majority of those years were spent teaching in Texas.  Kay was an avid reader who could be found snuggled up with her kindle at all hours of the day.  She was a long-time Girl Scout leader, an exceptional backyard artist and loved her pet Betta, Walter, and poodle, Beama. Kay was an active member in the River City Garden Club in Idaho. She was a Master Gardener whose backyard always resembled a postcard.

Kay was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband, Jack Gentry, Jack’s daughter Cheryl Cram and her grandson, Steven Richmond.

Kay is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Michelle & Wade Parker, Sabrina & Esco Richmond and Suzanne & Robert Kilgore.  She is survived by Jack’s children J. Kevin & Lori Gentry and Douglas & Rebecca Gentry.

Kay is also survived by her grandchildren Amy Richmond, Brian Richmond, and Ian Parker along with her pride and joy her great-granddaughter Finley Richmond.  She is also survived by numerous cousins and extended family members.
