Katie Mae Hubbard, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, went to be with our glorious Lord on February 16, 2026, at the age of 84. She leaves behind a legacy of selflessness, service, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Katie was born on November 18, 1941, to Evelyn Davis and Edward Taylor. She graduated from Ball High School in Seguin, Texas, in 1960. Even at a young age, Katie’s selflessness was evident as she helped care for her three younger brothers and sister while growing up. Though it could be challenging at times, she cherished every moment.
Katie met the love of her life, Robert L. Hubbard, in San Antonio, and the two were married on December 16, 1962. Together they began their Air Force journey, traveling from San Antonio to Japan, Mississippi, and eventually back to Texas. Throughout these years, they instilled strong family values in their two sons, Rodney and Lonny.
Katie became a familiar and beloved presence at Randolph Air Force Base, where she worked at the Randolph Inn from 1970 until her retirement in 2007, when she stepped away to care for her husband. She began her career as a housekeeper and retired as a supervisor. She loved her work and the many people she met along the way, forming friendships and bonds that lasted a lifetime.
Faith was an important part of Katie’s life. Her mother and stepfather were deeply involved in St. James Baptist Church in Seguin, where Katie’s faith foundation was built. She later attended Parkway Baptist Church in Schertz and became a member of First Baptist Church of Universal City in 2003. She loved her church and church family and formed lasting friendships there.
Katie was also a huge sports fan. Growing up in a house full of boys, she more than held her own when it came to talking sports. She faithfully attended her sons’ baseball, basketball, and football games while they were growing up. She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and Los Angeles Dodgers. She was also an extremely dedicated supporter of the Steele Knights, where her son Lonny coaches. Katie loved spending time working in her yard and was always concerned for the well-being of others.
Katie had an enormous heart and was an incredible mother. She would do anything for her family and provided a loving example for all who knew her. She was always checking on friends and offering encouragement. Most importantly, she was deeply devoted to the Lord, which gives her family comfort in saying “see you later” rather than “goodbye.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Hubbard; her parents, Edward Taylor and Evelyn Davis; and her brother, Ray Davis.
Katie is survived by her son Rodney Hubbard and his spouse, Dana Hubbard, of San Antonio, Texas; her son Lonny Hubbard of Schertz, Texas; her brother Charles Davis of Marion, Texas; her brother Kenneth Davis and his spouse, Lorraine Davis, of Marion, Texas; and her sister Sherice Burton of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Mianah Hubbard of Converse, Texas; great-grandchildren Conor Hubbard and Nakoa Hubbard of Converse, Texas; and four additional great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Universal City on March 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery at 12:15 p.m., followed by a reception for family and friends back at First Baptist Church of Universal City.
