Judy Rae Smith, age 80, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born to Zola Hathaway and Arthur Currie in New Brunswick, Canada, and was the eldest of three siblings. Judy met Gerald Smith in Chipman, New Brunswick, Canada, and together they married on April 8, 1966. Just recently, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Judy was a devoted homemaker, dedicating herself to raising her six children and serving God wholeheartedly. She taught Sunday school for many years and later enjoyed working at Tiny Tot Learning Center. Her hobbies included painting, quilting, sewing, coloring, and scrapbooking.
Judy is survived by her husband, Gerald Smith; daughter Susan Kirkpatrick (Paul); son Wayne Smith (Crystal); son David Smith (Kathryn); daughter Lori Anne Coon (Joel); son Jason; and son Daniel (Abby). She is also survived by her brother, Glen Currie (Mary) of Landmark, Manitoba, Canada. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Brian, Steven, Dawna, Jessica, Anthony, Emilie, Zachary, Alaina, Heidi, Natalie, Garrett, and Jacob; and great-grandchildren: Harper, Hendrix, Maverick, Scarlett, Leo, Paislee, Noah, Oakley, Bentley, Dawson, Savannah, Sienna, and Kendra.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Zola Currie, and her brother, Rodney Currie.
Family visitation is scheduled for Monday from 6 to 8 PM. Visitors are welcome for a viewing at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, followed by the Funeral Service at 12:30 PM, led by Pastor Joel Featherstone. The Funeral will take place at Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, Texas. Burial will follow at 2 PM at Hill Country Memorial Gardens, New Braunfels, Texas.
