Juanita Rhodes

On Sunday December 3rd, 2023, Juanita (Neat) Rhodes went to be with the lord after a long struggle with cancer at Methodist Hospital. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York on November 30th, 1956, to the late Mr. Frank Ewing and the late Mrs. Lena P. Rhodes. She resided at 10308 Aurora Sky.

She attended School in the New York Public School System. As a professional Juanita served 27 years as a supervisor with the New York City Police Department, School Safety Division, receiving numerous accolades by the NYC Police Commissioner for outstanding service and duty to the city, including “The Major Crime Reduction Award” in January 2008.

Juanita relocated to San Antonio, Texas in 2019 with her family to enjoy retirement.

She leaves to cherish her memories her (3) daughters, Lakiasha L. Martinez, Lena (Nicks) Rhodes, and Serena (Tia) Martinez; three (3) grandchildren, Xiomara S. Merino-Rhodes, Delila B. Merino-Rhodes, Grayson Franceschini, two (2) sisters; Belinda Thompson and Monique Robinson. four (4) brothers; Allen, Donnell, David, and Dwayne. One (1) son-in-law; Danei Merino, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who adored and loved her. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Wayne Rhodes, her siblings: three (3) brothers, Willie, Frankie, Walter, and three (3) sisters, Rasheeda (Hermelena), Valerie, and Francine; also, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Funeral Service for Juanita will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 12:00 PM, with a Visitation beginning at 11:00 AM. Following the Funeral Service, there will be a procession to Graveside Service at Selma #2 Cemetery.
