Juan Salinas

Juan R. Salinas, better known as Johnny entered the loving arms of our Lord on July 4, 2021 at the age of 70.  Born January 27, 1951 in San Antonio, TX in the home of his parents Margarito & Ysabel Salinas. Johnny was the youngest of 9 siblings.

Johnny was the most sweetest, loving Father and Husband with a strict backbone to stand up for what is right. Most of all,  respect was of the most importance to him. Johnny worked as a steel fabricator for over 30 years and retired in 2018 from Vestal Steel. His family is forever great full for the countless sacrifices over the years raising his family, primarily to give his children the best upbringing – and in his children and wife’s eyes he over exceeded.  Quiet but fierce and as the years went by he became very much a ‘teddy bear’ towards his grandchildren allowing them to even jump on the couches, something his children were never allowed to do.

Johnny loved fishing, traveling, and being around family. He enjoyed cooking BBQ for no reason at all other than just visits from the kids. A beer in hand and enjoying conversations is when he was most happy.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents Margarito and Ysabel Salinas, Sisters Maria Del Carmen, Amelia Alvarado, Maria Herlinda Shannon and Grandson Nathaniel Gilbert Salinas.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Olga Salinas, Children Olga (Max Aragon) Salinas, Johnny (Nina) Salinas Jr, and Tammy (Luis) Rodriguez. Grandchildren Jonathan and Max Aragon, Abigail, Isaac, Adam, Emily, Aalee Salinas, Aaden Gutierrez, Jasmine, Ariel, Melodey and Luis Rodriguez III. Further survived by sisters Ysabel ‘Nena’ and Mary, Brothers Margarito, Pete and Paul.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a Memorial Service beginning at 11:00 AM, at the Schertz Funeral Home. The family respectfully asks that no floral arrangements be sent.
