Joyce Weible

March 6, 1936 — August 10, 2022

Joyce Laverne Weible was born into this earthly life on March 6, 1936, to Andrew and Bernice Shipp in Springdale, Arkansas. She was the youngest of six children. Her brother Lawrence, and sisters  Pauline, Aileen, Kathy, and Robbie have all preceded her in death and wait for her in heaven.

She married Walter Weible at the age of 18 at New Hope Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She immediately became an Air Force wife, and left her small hometown to travel  the world with Walter. They began building their now very large family. Nine months after marrying, their first child, Sheryl (Weible) Roitsch was born. Sheryl lives in Strawn, TX. Phyllis (Weible) Freeman is married to Paul Freeman, of San Antonio, TX.  Janet (Weible) Jackson is married to Paul Jackson, of Jackson, TN. Alan Weible is married to Jenny Weible and lives in Sisters, Oregon. Mark Weible is married to Tammy Weible and lives in Ocala, FL.  The family has grown to 71 members now…including the great granddaughter that is on the way, and Joyce’s first great great grandchild. Lamenting the fact that Joyce did not live to be a great great grandmother, the family was reminded by a friend, an OB, that the child is in the womb, Joyce IS a great great grandmother. Joyce has 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, with one on the way, and one great great grandchild arriving soon.  She is preceded in death by her beloved husband , Walter.

Family has always been Joyce’s life passion and devotion. She was a talented student and bookkeeper, but upon marrying, devoted herself to her husband and children. She was always in the home. She raised her own children, then began raising the children of friends, keeping infants until they were old enough for school. She counted 20+ children that she cared for and loved.

Besides her family, Joyce loves her Lord, Jesus, and served faithfully in her churches: Kirby Baptist, Woodlake Baptist, and First Baptist UC. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher, Choir Member, served on multiple committees, was a deacon’s wife, hosted small groups in her home, and loved others well.

Her children will always remember Joyce as being the unassuming, often quiet and behind the scenes wife of their dad; and a loving, protective, self-sacrificing mother for them; grandmother for their children; and Gee to 35 of the most beautiful great grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed, forever remembered, and joyfully reunited with them soon. She requested one thing recently: “I want to be with Walter.”  Her children say, “Go be with Dad, Mom.”

Joyce went Home on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.
