Joseph Frederick Pollock (Joe) of Cibolo, Texas, went to be with The Lord on May 15th, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends. He fought the good fight; he finished the race; he was 63 years old.
Joe was born January 15th, 1960, in St. Louis, Missouri to Joseph Dale Pollock and Nanette Winona (Proske) Pollock. He was the first of five children. When he was 2 weeks old, he moved with his parents to New Mexico where his brothers Jeffrey and David were born. His family then moved to El Paso where his sister Karen and brother Douglas were born.
Joe spent most of his childhood in El Paso and attended Andress High School where he played the drums in the marching band and symphonic band. He met his best friend Jerry Gage at Andress High School and played in the band with him.
When Joe was 18 years old, he joined the Airforce where he became a motor pool driver and mechanic and drove the Air Force Band of the West around to different venues for several years. He eventually cross trained in finance and realized he was good at it and enjoyed it.
After six years in the Air Force Joe went to Southwest Texas State University (Now Texas State) and obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting in only two years. He entered Civil Service for the Air Force as a palace acquire (intern) after college and stayed with them for 35 years for a total of 41 years of federal service.
During this time, he received several awards and commendations and traveled from Texas to Colorado, Oklahoma, Florida and back to Texas. He was able to visit Japan, South Korea, and Hawaii. Joe retired from Civil Service in 2022 at age 62.
In 1998 Joe married his friend Jerry’s sister Debra Joann Gage. They had 25 wonderful years of marriage and raised three terrific daughters: Elizabeth Winifred, Nanette Eleanor, and Madeline Royann.
Joe loved travel, cars, motorcycles, tacos, enchiladas, and cherry pie. He also loved to be with family and friends as much as he could.
Joe is survived by his spouse Debra, his daughters Elizabeth, Nanette, and Madeline; his parents Joseph and Nanette, His brother Jeff; his brother David and David’s wife Cheryl and their son Bennett; His sister Karen and her husband Hayden and their children, Hayden and Charli; his brother Doug and his wife Haydee and their children Leslie, Lexi and Leam. He is also survived by his brother-in law Jerry and his wife Sharon; sister-in law Mary, nephew Harmon, niece Jenny, nephew Justin; sister-in Law Tammie and nieces Ashlee, Natalie, and Kaitlyn, as well as many cousins and friends.
Joe Loved God, his family, his church, and his friends. He was always smiling and joyful and had an encouraging word for those around him. He will be greatly missed by all left behind, but we find comfort in the fact that he is with Jesus his Savior in paradise.
