It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Jones on June 23, 2026, at age 72, at his home in Cibolo, Texas. Joseph was born July 14, 1953, in Blytheville, Arkansas, to Karro Hunt (stepfather) and Easter Hunt. Early in life, Joseph was baptized.
Joseph met the love of his life, his beloved wife Genette Jones, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Together they raised two children, Antione and Kinya Jones. They were his greatest joys and pride, and he always spoke of them with a smile.
He graduated from Blytheville High School and entered the United States Air Force, serving 20 years. He continued his service through 20 years of Civil Service and earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from UTSA in San Antonio, Texas
Joseph was known for his strong will, unwavering determination, and his devotion as a sole provider who deeply loved and supported his family. Joseph lit up every room he entered—not just because of his huge, warm smile (though that certainly helped)—but because of his generous, giving spirit. He had a heart big enough to hold every friend and family member. He was the kind of person who always gave more than you asked for.
Joseph was the kind of man who could find humor in just about anything. He had quick wit and a playful way of teasing that let you know you were loved, especially during family gatherings.
Although Joseph traveled the world with his family during his military service, he planted deep roots in Blytheville. No matter when he visited his hometown, he was always welcomed by family and friends with warm greetings.
On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Joseph departed his earthly body, leaving behind family and friends. His legacy lives on through those who love him and cherish his memory: his wife Genette Jones; his children Antione and Kinya Jones; daughter-in-law Lisa Jones (wife) of Antione Jones, his grandchildren Marquise Jones, Darius Clark, Maleke Jones, and Dashawn Donald Jones; and his great-grandchildren Braelynn Jones and Xavien Jaubert Clark.
He was preceded in death by his parents Karo and Easter (Horne) Hunt, his grandmother Sister Savannah Jones, his sister Glenda Dean Allen-Jones, and his brother James Bill Horne.
He leaves his remembrance to: His sisters Norma Ricker and Paula (Elijah) Bradshaw; his brother Larry Jones; nieces Mrs. Sonja (Ray), Mrs. Tonya (Ricky) James, Mrs. LaTonya Jones Butler and family; the Bradshaw family; and a host of aunts, uncles, family, and friends.
A Visitation for Joseph will be held Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Schertz Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 10, 2026 at Schertz Church of Christ at 9:00 AM, followed by a Graveside Service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:00 AM.
