Joseph Aguilera

May 30, 1938 — December 23, 2022

Joseph Louis Aguilera (Joe) was born May 30, 1938 and went to be with the Lord, surrounded by family on December 23, 2022, at the age of 84.

Joe was born in Brush Creek Township, Minnesota to Trina Aguilera and Joseph F Aguilera and soon moved to Manly, Iowa. Joe attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, in Manly Iowa. While there in the first grade he met Ann Johnson, whom he later married. At the age of 18, Joe enlisted in the United States Air Force, where after he completed a Bachelor’s Degree at Arizona State University he rose to the rank of Captain. Joe did a tour of duty in Canada, Topeka, Kansas, and AFCENT in Brunssum Holland. He retired after over 22 years of service. In retirement he and mom loved to travel. The Holy Land, both the earths North and South Pole and Alaska.

The Aguilera family has a legacy of education, Joe had a Bachelor’s Degree and two Master Degrees. His children have 5 Bachelors Degrees , one Master Degrees, a CPA and a Law Degree. The grand children have 4 Bachelor Degrees and one near Masters Degree.

He was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church for several decades. Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Family and Marriage Counselor, and active with the Habitat for Humanity.

He is survived by his children Joseph (Tammy) Aguilera, David (Diana) Aguilera, Theresa Aguilera, James Aguilera, JoAnn Aguilera, Daniel (Patty) Aguilera. His grandchildren Matthew Aguilera, Terra Villarreal, Rubianne Garcia, Julian Garcia, Mikaela Aguilera, Jordan Garcia, Joseph Perez, and Trevor Aguilera. His great-grandchild Ava Villarreal. His siblings Lu De La Hunt, Margaret (Val) Infante, Maggie Terhark, Rosie (Dennis) Dirksen, Tom (Jan) Aguilera, Robert Aguilera, and Linda Scott.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ann, his parents Joseph Aguilera and Trina C. Aguilera, his brother David Aguilera and sister Lucy Hausman, and beloved pet Buddy.

In lieu of flowers we suggest donations to Habitat for Humanity.

Special Thanks to the Staff at Our lady of Perpetual Health especially Father Danny Nyangau , Deacon Louis Heimer and Sister Leonita and the staff at Schertz Funeral Home.

His Visitation will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM. His Funeral Service will be held the following day at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral procession to Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery for the Graveside Service.
