John Preston Rose Jr., 71, of San Antonio, TX, passed peacefully on August 15, 2023 of heart-related complications. He battled and overcame several heart-related incidents for many years up until the day of his passing.
John was born on February 18, 1952, to John Rose Sr. and Mary Marie Rose in Houston, Texas. John’s family eventually moved to San Antonio and, after graduating from Sam Houston High School, he spent some of his early work years as an electrician. It was during this time that John met Beth Tarrillion. They eventually married and would go on to have two sons. Beth was a warm and caring mother to her boys and John’s daughter, Andrea. Sadly, Beth would pass away in 1986 at the age of 32. After some years, John met Rose, whom he married, and they would raise Jason, Adam and Rose’s daughter, Selina. John found his true career calling when he decided to pivot into the job of Dental Equipment Technician, a life change that would set the foundation for John eventually owning and operating his own Dental Sales and Service company. John took great pride in his company and very much enjoyed seeing the satisfaction on every one of his customers' faces. He continued to run his company along with Rose for over 20 years until the time of his passing.
As a young man, John's passion was stock-car racing. He truly loved racing cars as well as spending time with his team and racing buddies. He continued to attend local races throughout his life as well as stay in touch with his friends. When John’s children were young, he was fully engaged with their lives and enjoyed seeing them play sports, volunteering time to coach his sons’ teams as well. Many happy memories were made taking road trips around Texas as well as out-of-state for vacation and to visit family. A good number of summer weekends were spent driving the family boat and jet ski around Bastrop and Canyon Lake. When John and Rose became empty-nesters he enjoyed spending time with his family and playing poker with his wife in casinos and with friends.
He was a citizen of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians and recognized as an Elder in the tribe at the time of his passing. John was very proud of his Native American ancestry and stayed in touch with his native family members in Michigan and Indiana.
John is survived by his wife of 34 years, Rose; daughter Andrea Rose Stock and her sons Erik, his sons Kroy and Kross, and Justin; son Jason; son Adam, his wife Jennifer and their four sons Caden, Corbin, Cole and Chase; stepdaughter Selina; sister Brenda; brother Bill, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his late wife Beth, parents, John and Mary, and sister, Susan.
John will be forever cherished by those Blessed enough to know him.
