John Gries

John Matthew Gries, 41, died Tuesday, June 14, 2022. He was born June 22, 1980, in Denver, Colorado to Dennis and Debra Gries.

John was a 1999 graduate of Samuel Clemens High School and earned a Bachelor's of Science degree from UTSA. He was 22 year veteran of the Texas Air National Guard, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. John was a veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan, along with numerous other deployments.

John is survived by his wife, Taren (Blaylock) Gries; three sons, John, Simon and Lincoln Gries; step-daughter, Vivian Wilde; parents, Dennis and Debra Gries; and brother, Jeffrey Gries.

The Funeral Service will be held at 9:30AM on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery of San Antonio, Texas. A reception and celebration of John's life will be held at Harmon's BBQ in Cibolo, Texas after interment.

John was loved by so many and will be greatly missed by his family and close friends.
