John Dowling

John Frederick Dowling passed away on July 11, 2022 in Selma, TX at 65 years old.

He was born on March 31, 1957 in Lawton, Oklahoma. His parents were John H. Dowling and Jutta R. Dowling. John grew up in Germany and then moved to Texas in his late teens. He graduated from the University of Texas, had a long career with Chevron, and has lived in Selma for over 25 years.

One of John’s favorite past times was bowling, he was a life-time member of the Bracken Bowling Club. In addition to bowling, he enjoyed music, bartending for the girls’ martini nights, Sunday afternoons at Chicken S@#t Bingo, and above all, spending time with his friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents: John H. Dowling and Jutta R. Dowling.

He is survived by his lifetime partner of over 26 years, Dava Sue Johnson, his sisters, Stephanie and June Dowling, his brother-in-law, Denny Johnson, his father’s wife, Sonja Dowling, and numerous other close friends.

He will be greatly missed and no margarita will ever taste as good. We will celebrate his life on Monday, July 18th at the Bracken Store & Ice House at 4:00 p.m.; just the way he would have wanted.
