In Loving Memory of John Monroe Albert Sr. of Cibolo
John Monroe Albert Sr. of Cibolo, 83, went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2025. John was born on May 8, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas to William L. Albert Sr. and Louise C. Albert. John was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and devoted brother to William Albert.
Growing up in San Antonio, he, his brother Bill and his cousins Allen and Richard could find themselves in a lot of mischief just being boys. Nothing escaped the curious nature of these boys. Imagine a chicken and a water well, yes, they put the chicken in the well. No one really knows how that ended but we will leave that your imagination. Then there was the donkey named Colley. John said he was meaner than hell. Colley knew how to manage those young boys, and he had the brains to defeat them and the head and legs to tame them when they messed with him.
John met Bernice at Martinez Social Club in San Antonio. It was love at first sight that began a courtship then became a marriage on June 24, 1961. They were married 6 days short of 64 years. Dad would tell how on their first date they went for chili dogs. Mom in her nice dress came home with chili all over her dress and Dad just laughed.
John lived for his family and enjoyed the simple things in life. He was a farmer and worked in the steel mill in his younger years. He started his hog farm soon after getting married to Bernice Schneider. He won many awards and Trophies for those Yorkshire Pigs. He was known to many for his compassion, friendly nature and welcoming handshake. Once you had met him, he was a friend for life.
John loved farm life, though it was hard work, he never complained. He taught each of kids and grandkids how to drive those tractors, trucks & combiners. He loved hunting, fishing, leather crafting and canning vegetables with Bernice. He also loved to cook and made the best potato salad hands down. We would gather as a family for many food related activities: butchering turkeys, making pannas, and processing meat for making sausage.
They were blessed with 4 Children, Janet McKelvy and husband Reggie, John M. Albert Jr. and wife Patricia, Stephen Albert and wife Stephanie, Susan Clark and husband Clayton.
They have 12 Grandkids, Dustin Olson, Cody Olson, Maegan Brewster, Ryan McKelvy, Crystal Albert, Michael Albert, Leah Saucedo, Bailey Albert, Xavier DeVeto, Baylee Kuhlmann, Skylar Kuhlmann Skyler Hamilton, and Stacy Spain. Let's not forget the 22 Great Grandkids and numerous nieces and nephews. He was not only known as Grandpa to his Grandkids and Great Grandkids but as Grandpa to their friends.
He was proceeded in Death by his parents William and Louise Albert, Brother William Albert. Beloved In-Laws, Benjamin and Sylvia Schneider.
