Joan Kryda Carnesi, 78, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2025, in San Antonio.
Born on February 27, 1947, in San Antonio to her beloved mother, Josephine Kryda, Joan was raised in the Alamo City and lived most of her life there. A talented artist, Joan found joy and numerous lifelong friends through her passion for oil painting, participating in many art contests over the years and proudly selling her artwork in Alamo Plaza. Her creative spirit and dedication to her craft left a lasting impression on those who admired her work and cherished her friendship.
Joan is survived by her son, Craig Carnesi (Sara), her two beloved grandchildren, Kathryn and Andrew, her brother, James Kryda (Vicki), her niece, Michelle Dirks, her nephew, Paul Kryda, and other family and friends.
A Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Schertz Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place immediately after at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Joan’s name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Embrace Hospice, and especially La Casona PCH and Lorena, for the compassionate care and comfort they provided to Joan.
