Jo Beth Dozier

Jo Beth Dozier, age 81, of Saint Hedwig, Texas, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026.

She was born on January 22, 1945, in Lubbock, Texas, to Louis Burkhalter Barkley and Emma Erin Hamilton.

Jo Beth graduated from Southwest Texas State University with her teaching degree and began her career with the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District. She later attended the University of Texas in Austin, where she earned her Library Science degree. She continued serving as a librarian in Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD and later in Judson ISD, where she made a lasting impact on her students by guiding them toward a lifelong love of reading.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Oldcorn and spouse Robert R. Oldcorn; her stepdaughter, Monica Powers and spouse Sean Powers; her grandchildren, Kyle Oldcorn and spouse Rachelle Oldcorn, Kaylie Oldcorn and fiancé Joshua Frazier, Claire Powers, and Mary Powers; her great-granddaughter, Ella Oldcorn; and her brother, Walter Barkley and spouse Olivia Barkley, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Jo Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Dozier; her stepson, Jason Dozier; her father, Louis Burkhalter Barkley; her mother, Emma Erin Hamilton; and her brother, Louis Burkhalter Barkley Jr. and spouse Sarah Elizabeth Barkley.

She will be remembered for her love of God and church, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by her family and by all who knew and loved her.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Redeemer United Church of Christ Cemetery in Zuehl, Texas.
