BIOGRAPHY OF Jimmy John Carlile was born on 17 December, 1949 in Hobbs, New Mexico, and entered heaven on 6 July 2008, at 10:12 AM. Jim passed away in his home with family and friends at his bedside. Jimmy was adopted by Cleo and Maxine Carlile, which precedes him in death. He graduated from Dumas High School in, Dumas, Texas. Shortly after graduation he entered the United States Air Force on 20 August 1969, and retired after 23 years of service on 31 July 1992. Jimmy married Judy (Porter) on 16 April 1977, in Abilene, Texas and had a blessed 31 years of marriage. Jimmy was Judys heart. Jimmy was a loving and devoted father to 2 children, John Matthew of San Antonio, and Jennifer Evon of the home. Jimmy has 1 son, Michael Wade, and 4 grand children, Christopher and Elizabeth Carlile, Byrce and Caleb Swofford. Jimmy leaves behind 1 brother Billy Ray Carlile, from Hawaii, and sister in law, Jane. There are numerous family members and many military family members from coast to coast, that love Jimmy. Jimmy was in the military for 23 years, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation w/3 oak leaf clusters, Achievement medal, AF outstanding unit award w/5 oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal w/bronze star, Vietnam Service Metal w/3 bronze stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and 11 ribbons to accompany the medals. Jimmy was a First Sgt for 6 years, upon retirement; he served 8 years as a maintenance data system analyst, and 8 years as an aircraft maintenance specialist on C-130. Jimmy served 3 tours in Vietnam. Jimmy played golf at Ft Sam Golf Course for a number of years, and was very intrigued by the formation of the Patriot Guard Riders. Not knowing their function or participation, Jimmy was very touched by their presence at the Ft Sam Cemetery. Jimmy would pull over on the side of the golf course, and the street to watch them pass. Our love and appreciation goes out to the PGR and their presence in honor of Jimmy. The family has special feelings and thanks for Terris Thompson, FNP (BAMC), and Dr. James Garrison, MD for the care they gave Jimmy for the past 5 years. Our love and special heartfelt thanks for precious years of loving care from Alice Villarreal. Alice cared for Jimmy for 3 ½ years. We love you!!! Our heartfelt thanks to Vitas Hospice of San Antonio, for the care and support for Jimmy and his family. Special thanks to Ron Laza, RN, Terry Reynolds, CNA, V.J. Sparks, LVN, and Sal Alletore, CNA and every CNA, nurse, doctor, Chaplin, and social worker that was involved and cared for Jimmy. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Haskel, Frank Adams, Eugene Christian, Joe Whitley, Bobby Bottoms, Terry Corley, Jerry Holdiness and Louie Sparks. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Schertz Funeral Home. Funeral Services are at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 11, 2008 at Schertz Funeral Home. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
