Jerry R. Baumann

Jerry Roland Baumann, age 77, of Schertz, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27. 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on July 17,1948, in San Antonio, Texas, to Melvin C Baumann and Lena M Schertz Baumann.

Jerry was known for his kindness and dedication to family and friends. He lived a life full of love, hard work, and compassion. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for 25+ years, where he was admired for his ability to operate almost every piece of construction equipment.

Outside of work, Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, 9 pin bowling, racing and messing around with metal art. He especially loved spending time with family, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Jerry served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War where he earned a purple heart.

Jerry is survived by wife Nina LaVerne Baumann, Daughter Nicole Zimmerle and husband Stacy Zimmerle, daughter Korrin Bond and husband Jene Bond. Step-son Trey NeSmith and wife Lisa NeSmith and Step-daughter Samantha Martinez and husband Chris Martinez. Grandchildren, Mackinley Bruce (Christian), Ashlynn Zimmerle, Alyeiah Asebedo, Lesile Palmer (James), Colton NeSmith, Lainey NeSmith, Aniyah Martinez, Roslyn Martinez, Leilah Martinez and Ashelia Martinez. Great Grandchildren Callum and Adalyn Bruce. Siblings Jerome Baumann and his wife Wilma Baumann and numerous nieces and nephews and preceded in death by parents Melvin C Baumann, Lena M Baumann, sister Jeanette Brogdon, brother in law Johnny Brogdon and niece Jean Avon Manning.

Visitation for Jerry will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 5pm-8pm and funeral services will be held November 12th at 11am at Schertz Funeral Home, located at 2217 FM 3009 Schertz, Texas. Family requests that donations be made in Jerry’s memory to Bexar County Jr. Livestock Show in lieu of flowers.

Jerry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of kindness, faith and strength will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
