Jaylyn Gutierrez

On Monday, February 11, 2024, Jaylyn Gutierrez received her wings earlier than expected.  
 
Jaylyn was born on October 13, 2008 in San Antonio, TX. She was a miracle baby. At birth, she was diagnosed with a rare 1P36 Chromosome Deletion. Since she took her first breath, she was a fighter! Against all odds, she broke medical barriers and accomplished impossible milestones. Doctors said she would never walk, communicate, comprehend her surroundings, recognize her family or have a decent quality of life. Jaylyn was determined to show them otherwise. She not only recognized her family, friends, and teachers, but she walked, ran, jumped, played, rode a tricycle, she also had a love for movies, music and dancing. She attended school and even played Bingo. She left doctors speechless! Jaylyn was vibrant and full of life and had an unforgettable laugh and smile. She was a true inspiration and was deeply loved. Her life is a testament to living life to its fullest – there was no fear or limitations! 

Jaylyn is preceded in death by her grandfather Jose (Joe) Riojas Jr. She is survived by her parents Eric Felix Gutierrez and Marisela Riojas Gutierrez and siblings Jordan Gutierrez and Joylyn Gutierrez. Her grandparents Felix and Rosalinda Gutierrez; grandmother Yolanda Riojas. Her aunt Michelle Villanueva Fischer; uncle and aunt Clarence and Misty Denis and cousin Daniel Denis; uncle and aunt Jose (Joey) and Angela Riojas and cousins Eliana Riojas and Joey Dylan Riojas, aunt Roxanne Gutierrez. And numerous great aunts and uncles, cousins and extended family. 

Visitation will take place Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Rosary to be recited at 7:00PM at Schertz Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 11:00 AM  at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
