Janice De Lois Bair of Marion, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Northeast Methodist Hospital, Live Oak, TX. At the age of 80 years, she was the wife of Orval A. Bair, Jr; they spent 62 years together having been married on Dec. 11, 1960.
Born in Newton, Kansas, on Nov. 6, 1942, she was the 10th child of Guy C. Hall and Naomi E. Gaines. Of Janice’s 9 siblings, she is survived by two sisters, Clara DeHaven, and Nancy Steffen. Her surviving children are Rhonda Stein, her husband, Kevon Stein, Teresa Bair, and Roy Bair. The surviving grandchildren include Christine Johnston, Michelle Johnston, Tyler Woods, Sean Woods, Brodie Bair, Summer Bair, Xanthia Bair, and Sage Bair.
Her great-grandchildren include Calliope McGee and Malcolm Estes.
Janice enjoyed traveling with her husband to different locations with the Air Force experiencing and appreciating the different cultures. She enjoyed reading novels, playing games on her computer, and playing Bunco with her friends. Janice spent 18 years working for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office located in Sarasota, Florida as a Control Room Specialist. She retired in 2008, and they returned to their home in Texas.
The visitation will be held at Schertz Funeral Home in Schertz, Texas, on Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. The Graveside Service will occur on Friday, April 7, 2023 at 10:45 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #5.
A special note of thanks to the staff at Northeast Methodist Hospital for all they did to help Janice and our family while she was in ICU. Their friendliness, support, and professionalism was much appreciated.
