James Edward Hitt

In Loving Memory Of 

James Edward Hitt

James (Jim) Edward Hitt, born at his family home in Vincennes, Indiana on January 20, 1940 and passed away on September 20, 2025 at is home Schertz, Texas, with his partner, Cheryl Becker, beside him. 

After graduation, Jim joined the Indiana National Guard and served for 8 years. He then worked for Sears in Indianapolis as a salesman. Then he was hired by Schneider Trucking Company in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Jim drove for Schneider for 25 years and covered over 3 million miles. 

Jim is survived by his partner, Cheryl Becker, and his siblings Ester Lough, Robert Hitt (Jan), Marcia Frederick, Lora Herrin (Loyd), and Gary Hitt (Regina). Also, his son Jamie Hitt, granddaughter Samantha Stephens, and great grandchild, Sophia.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Garold and Evelyn (Toone) Hitt, his daughter, Lisa Philips and granddaughter, Michala. 

In Jim's memory, donations may be given to his favorite charity, St. Lukes Children's Hospital. 

Jim was guided by his Christian faith all his life and frequently spoke of what his eternal home might be like. We are blessed to know he is there now and we will see him again. 

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jim on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Schertz Funeral Home. 

If you are unable to attend, his services will also be lived streamed and be available to watch on this website once the service begins.
