Jalissa "Jolly" Bocanegra, 33, passed away suddenly on October 1, 2023. She was born March 18,1990 in Corpus Christi, TX where she was raised until moving to Schertz, Tx in 2013.
She was a 2008 graduate of W.B. Ray High School and later received her certification in Nursing Assistance. Jalissa enjoyed doing freelance make-up, watching baseball games, traveling, and doing anything that involved family. Most of all, Jalissa was an avid reader and a part of an exclusive book club. She created content and promoted many books for several authors. She was so loved by the Bookish Community.
Jalissa devoted her entire life to her 10 year old son, Nash Castanon, whom she loved more than anything in this world.
She is also survived by her parents, Larry and Valerie Gonzalez, her grandmother, Gloria Valdez, Her sister Leeandra (Ramon) Ortiz, her brother, Michael (Vanessa) Bocanegra, Her BestFriend/Sister, Victoria Nerio, Her niece, Madilynn Rae, and four nephews, Aiden Ryan, Liam Jase, Kaleb Zayn, and Rylan Kol, her aunts and uncles, many cousins, and her cat, Juancho.
She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Fortino C. Reyes and Maria E. Favela and her grandparents, Wenslado and Consuelo Bocanegra.
A memorial will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at the Schertz Funeral Home beginning at 1 pm with a prayer service starting at 2 pm
