Jackie Dale Miller

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jackie Dale Furnish Miller, age 75, of Seguin, Texas, on Friday, September 20, 2024. Jackie passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and dedication to her family and community.

Born on December 4, 1948, in Pampa, Texas, Jackie was the daughter of John T. Furnish and Lucy (Villanueva) Furnish. From a young age, Jackie displayed a love for the outdoors, enjoying her time playing with friends, discovering new things, and exploring nature. This passion for the outdoors would stay with her throughout her life, as she loved hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with her family.

Jackie was known for her kind heart, sense of humor, and love for her family. Jackie was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Jackie began her long and rewarding career at Our Lady of the Lake University where she worked in the registrar’s office. She was dedicated to assisting students with transcripts, helping develop the class schedules, and supporting the registration process. Jackie took great pride in her work, and her attention to detail ensured that everything ran smoothly for students and staff alike. Over the years, her coworkers became like family, and she forged lifelong friendships within the university community. Her kindness, dedication, and commitment left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Jackie was a loving mother to daughters Stacey Miller Oncale and husband Paul, Debralee Miller Richardson and husband Jon Matthew. She was the grandmother of Kalah Morgan Oncale, Corbin Michael Oncale, Paige Mae Bloemer, and Brayden William Bloemer. Her greatest joy was watching her children and grandchildren grow, offering support and wisdom every step of the way.

Jackie is also survived by her brother, John L. Furnish and his wife Linda, niece Sara Furnish and husband Isaac, nephew Jon “Bubba” Furnish, niece Chrissy Mendelsohn and great nephew Tristan Hornberger. She maintained close ties with her extended family and always cherished the special bond they shared.

Jackie is preceded in death by her husband, Roger L. Miller; her parents, John T. Furnish and Lucy (Villanueva) Furnish; and her son, Roger Lee Miller.

Though her passing leaves a void, the memory of her love and strength will continue to guide those she left behind. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten. May she rest in eternal peace.

Visitation will be held on October 2, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 pm at Schertz Funeral Home.

A Graveside Service for immediate family will take place on October 3, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
