In Memory of Henry Scheel

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our brother, Henry Scheel, who departed this life on September 4, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on June 29, 1952, in New Braunfels, Texas, Henry was the son of Eugen and Elenora Scheel. He grew up alongside his 7 siblings in Marion, Texas.

Henry's journey began with 12 years in the Marion School district. He graduated from Marion in 1970, a place that would forever hold a special place in his heart. The Bulldogs of Marion High School were more than just a team to him; they were a lifelong passion. Henry could often be found cheering them on at games, both near and far. His dedication to the Bulldogs was unwavering, and he became a familiar face in the stands, known for his enthusiastic support and loyalty. He loved it so much when he was awarded the “Spirit Stick”. That was the best thing anyone could have given him.

Henry worked for the Marion ISD in maintenance for many years.

Henry was predeceased by his loving parents, Eugen and Elenora Scheel, his brother Charlie Scheel, and his sisters Margaret (& Ralph) Stapper, Rose Korpi, and Agnes (& Gary) Williams. He is survived by his brother Frank (Joyce) Scheel, sisters, Leona Davenport, and Carolyn (John) Stoll, sister-in-law Gerri Scheel, and brother-in-law Wayne Korpi. He is also survived by his eighteen nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

The vigil service will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Monday evening, September 14th, with visitation from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marion, on Tuesday, September 15, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Santa Clara Cemetery on Gin Road. Family and friends are invited to gather in memory of a man who touched so many lives with his warmth, humor, and generosity of spirit.
