Harold Friesenhahn

Harold Friesenhahn, age 65 of Selma, passed away on December 5, 2007. He was born to August & Louise Friesenhahn on April 8, 1942 in San Antonio. Harold was a loving husband and father who devoted his life to caring for his family. He grew up in Selma and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help grade school. Harold graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1960. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and music and managed the local band, The Branded Men. Harold worked for WOAI -TV for 46 years. At the age of 19, he began working at the station as a camera operator and advanced to become chief engineer in 1983. Harold was a certified professional broadcast engineer and chapter chairman of the Society of Broadcast Engineers. He was a visionary in broadcasting and was well respected by the broadcast community for his expertise. He was a member of the local emergency planning committee in San Antonio. Harold also served the city of Selma as volunteer firefighter, councilman for 9 years and mayor for 6 years. As mayor Harold helped create the citys current master plan. He enjoyed the outdoors and raised cattle and farmed as hobbies for most of his life. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lillian Kott & Rosemary Tudyk; brothers-in-law, William Kott, Sr. & Oscar Walleck, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Patricia Friesenhahn; sons, Jacob Friesenhahn & Casey Friesenhahn; daughters, Erin Machicek & husband, Bradley and April Friesenhahn; brother, August Friesenhahn & wife, Magdalene; sister, Alice Walleck; brother-in-law, Joe Tudyk and numerous nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday, December 7, 2007 (with a Rosary being Recited at 7:00 PM) at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Clifford Friesenhahn officiating. A Mass will be Celebrated at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Selma, Texas with Father Philip Kim as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Selma Catholic Cemetery #2.
