Harley E Rothrock (Rocky), 91, died peacefully in New Braunfels, Tx on Tuesday evening, August 9, 2022. Rocky was born in Plymouth, Indiana on Dec 20, 1930 and grew up in South Haven, Michigan until he joined the Air Force in 1950. While stationed in Nottingham, England he met his wife, Alma G Scarff. They were married shortly after on June 26, 1952 in a small chapel in Nottingham.. Rocky was an avid pilot, obtaining his FAA Private Pilot license in 1962.He eventually went on to become an FAA Certified Flight Instructor and also got involved in MWR activities including Being employed as an FAA Certified ground school instructor at the Aero Clubs at Randolph AFB and Brooks AFB. He was later promoted to Aero Cub Manager/Instructor. Rocky loved gaining knowledge and did so completing various Florida State college courses and after retirement in 1974 he did pursue an FAA Airframe and Powerplant license (A&P). During his retirement he enjoyed playing golf and was passionate about teaching. For many years he was a beloved substitute teacher for Samuel Clemens in the Schertz-Cibolo School District SCUCISD. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Alma; his children Gary, Martin, and Tracy Gahagan; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Steven and his great granddaughter, Noriah. Rocky will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery Thursday, September 8, 2022.
