Gwyneth Marie Johnson of Universal City, Texas passed away on Sunday, December 4th, 2022, at the age of 96. She was born to Edwin E. Baker and Stella Mae Holmes on November 7th, 1926, in Lamar, Colorado.
Gwyneth led an accomplished and adventurous life. A WWII survivor and an original Rosie the Riveter, at the age of 16 she went to work riveting panels on Heavy Bombers, repairing 24-cylinder engines, assembling parachute harnessing, and sewing fleece lining into aircrew clothing to help serve her country in whatever capacity she could. She loved flying and had a private pilot license.
She met the love of her life Robert Lee Johnson, and they were together for 61 years, they were always together. Her family remembers her as having a good heart and being full of life and happiness.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Edwin and Stella Mae Baker, her daughter; Dr. Virginia Johnson, and her son Russell Johnson.
She is survived by her husband Robert Johnson, her daughter Amy Johnson of Anchorage, Alaska, her adopted son and daughter; Gary and Hua “Dang” Clarke, her sister Anne, and her two brothers; Richard and Roy.
There will be a Graveside Service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at 1:45 PM.
